If you are looking for a way to restore a receding hairline or other hair loss, be assured that our team at PNW Hair Restoration has both the skills and the proven technology you are looking for.
For those whose cases require hair transplants, we offer both manual and robot-assisted FUE options. We find that these produce the best outcomes in most cases.
What is FUE?
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a type of hair transplant performed by extracting individual hair follicles, which are then moved to another area of the body where the hair is thinning or absent.
FUE transplant grafts do not produce linear scarring since the follicles are harvested individually rather than on small strips of the scalp that are used in FUT transplants. To facilitate harvesting, the donor area just needs to be trimmed short. Micropunches are used to harvest individual follicles, leaving almost no sign of the extraction process.
Since there are no scalpel cuts, stitches, or staples involved in FUE hair restoration, the final result has minimal scarring and produces more natural results than most other procedures can provide. The downtime for FUE procedures is two weeks, with minimal post-operative discomfort. The graft survival rate is 10-95%.
While Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) procedures are still performed, FUE is a more refined procedure made possible by robotic hair transplant systems, such as the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Restoration System. The precision of the robot allows our surgeons to perform transplants on a follicle-by-follicle basis – which creates the most natural-looking results.

The Convenience of an Outpatient Procedure
Modern life is often hectic, and FUE procedures are performed in short sessions as outpatient procedures. This minimizes the impact on your schedule and allows you to go home after each session.
A standard course of treatment usually involves several sessions of 2-4 hours in length. The combination of site creation and implantation may take a similar length of time. In-between (and afterwards) you can continue your normal routine… although you should avoid immersing the area in water or engaging in strenuous exercise for a week or so after the procedure.
How Safe and Effective Is FUE?
FUE transplants have a high rate of success. Usually, hair begins growing back within a few months of performing the procedure. The amount of transplanted hair that grows back varies by case, but you can expect approximately 10 to 95 percent to grow back.
The FUE procedure is considered to be a safe procedure and has become a growing standard in the hair restoration industry. Some cases may experience temporary side effects after the procedure, which usually only last a few days and can include swelling, bruising, and sensitivity. There is also the possibility of minor side effects, such as tiny white scars at the extraction points, which are rarely noticed as hair grows back even for short hair. In extremely rare instances, infection or other serious complications can arise.
